Covid-19 has been going around for almost 3 years now. We are already used to live side by side with it under the terms of ‘new normal’. Coming from Indonesia where it is still mandatory to wear a mask, I think France is not too strict regarding the regulation of Covid-19. The overall health condition recovery in this country is very quick. When I first came here on August 2022, I was quite surprised that everyone is no longer wearing a mask. According to the officials, wearing a mask is no longer an obligation for some conditions in France. For more information regarding a mask regulation, you can read here.

My Covid-19 Journey

On October 6th 2022, I was tested positive for Covid-19. Around a week before that day, I was having a terrible sore throat. It made me hard to eat or to even drink. A day after that, I was having a mild fever. At first, I thought it was normal because I had eaten spicy foods the night before. It is quite usual for me to have a sore throat and fever after eating something too spicy. So, I let it be. Several days after that, the pain was getting worse and I started to catch flu as well. On that note, I started to take some medicine, such as painkillers and cough medicine that I brought from Indonesia. However, that seemed to not be enough. One day, I decided to take an absent leave of the class and went to the university health center at the Les Tertiales Campus. There, I was examined by a nurse and she gave me paracetamols. I also got tested with the antigenic test kit to make sure if I was having Covid-19 or not. However, the test turned out to be negative. The nurse referred me to see a doctor by going to the Centre de Santé at the main building (Maison des Services à l’Étudiant) at the Mont Houy Campus.

Long story short, I received my PCR test result on October 6th 2022, and it was positive. That day when I got examined by the doctor in Mont Houy Campus, I also got prescribed to several medications which I directly bought at the pharmacy near to the Mont Houy Campus. In addition, I also received a letter where the doctor referenced me to further have my lungs scanned with a CT scan at the hospital, if I wished to.
